Both live contact forms email their notifications with the From address set to
whatever email the visitor typed into the form (an Elementor misconfiguration:
email_from = [field id=...]). The mail is actually sent by the WP Engine web server,
so a notification "from chloe@gmail.com" sent by WP Engine fails SPF and DKIM alignment for
gmail.com. MPG's mailbox is Google Workspace, which now hard-filters unauthenticated mail, so
the notifications land in spam. The domain's own SPF record covers Google and an old host
(hostingplatform.net.au), not WP Engine, and DMARC is p=none, so
nothing bounces; it just silently junks.
The safety nets both failed too: notifications also go to
maintenance@opdigitalsolutions.com and leads@opdigitalsolutions.com
(plus info@modernplumbinggroup.com.au), and nobody was watching the WordPress
submissions screen: 32 of 35 genuine leads since May are still
marked unread in WordPress.
Genuine submissions only, back to Aug 2024. Phone cross-referencing is only possible from May 2026 (when the Twilio number went in), so a portion of earlier "missed" may have been handled by phone without a ServiceM8 record. The problem is long-standing, not new.
